What Can You Do To Help?

If you have not joined the EJHAA (E.J. Hayes Alumni Association), please consider becoming a member.

If you know of others who are not members, but should be, please encourage them to do so. Even if they did not formally graduate form the school, we still want them to be members of the EJHAA.

The EJHAA has facilitated renovation of the library and the adjoining conference room into a museum. If you have artifacts such as pictures, documents, football jerseys, memorabilia from the Civil Rights era (or any other materials that may be relevant), please sent them to us so they can be displayed in our museum.

If you or your class wishes to provide a scholarship in the name of a former teacher or administrator, or if you wish to dedicate a room in the name of a teacher or administrator, please let us know.

If you have skills, resources, contacts or connections that can be used to help the EJHAA, please contact us.

Life Membership
In 2015, the Alumni Association received additonal funding to renovate two additional rooms. These two rooms will become the exercise Room and the Computer Instruction Room. The association is proceeding to plan and implement other programs that will benefit the community. To that end, the association asked members during the past year to become Life Members for a fee of $250.00. Monies from this special fund will be used to purchase computer based educatinal material that addresses literacy, mathematic skills, life skills, test preparation and materials related to manhood and womanhood training. Plans include the purchase of equipment that positively impacts our health (e.g., basketball goals, volleyball eqiupment, ping pong tables, and etc.). The response to this request was outstanding. Over $7,000.00 was raised with the Class of 1961 being our highest contributor.
